Shaping the future of reusable glass packaging: join the Reuse Experts Pool

A call for experts by Interpool

Reusable glass packaging could be one of Europe's most powerful tools for cutting waste, but only if reuse systems can work across borders. That's the challenge Interpool, an EU-funded project under Interreg NWE, is tackling. And we're now recruiting experts to help.

What is Interpool?

Launched in January 2026, Interpool brings together 14 partners from the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium. The goal: understand and make reuse systems for glass packaging interoperable across borders, so bottles, jars and crates can be circulated, collected, cleaned, and reused across countries.

Why we need experts

Two pilots sit at the heart of the project, one testing the enabling conditions for reuse systems, one testing transnational reuse loop with a consumer facing awareness campaign. Experts will feed into the Joint Pilots Implementation Plan, both pilots, and the scale-up action plan.

Engaging early comes with real advantages: experts help shape the practical, tested knowledge that will support businesses navigating reuse targets under the Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and gain a head start on the operational experience and partnerships the transition to reuse will require.

Who should apply

Those with:

  • Demonstrated expertise in packaging reuse systems, ideally hands-on
  • Willingness to share good and bad practices
  • Ability to think through transnational challenges
  • Understanding of consumer behaviour around reusable packaging
  • A minimum level of participation will be expected from selected experts, particularly between September 2026 and June 2027

Applicants from anywhere are welcome, with preference for those based in the Netherlands, Germany, France, or Belgium. Experts are paid €900/day upon completion of work. We strongly encourage experts of all genders and underrepresented groups to apply.

How to apply

Apply only via the official form, no emailed applications.

Reuse only scales if we collaborate, so if you've got expertise to bring, we would love to hear from you.
